Current Beagle packages for MandrivaLinux are available from the development environment "Cooker". Regular distro sources contain older versions.

If you want to participate in MandrivaLinux development, visit Mandriva Cooker Wiki.

Once you decide which environment you want to use, make sure your sources are defined properly using Easy URPMI. (If you use Cooker, you may need to upgrade to the latest snapshot, please refer to the site above for details.)

To install the packages:

# urpmi beagle

A bunch of dependencies may be installed, such as mono, gtk-sharp, etc.

Once installed, refer to the details in this Wiki to:

  1. Enable extended attributes (you need to do this only once)
  2. Start the beagle daemon
  3. Check that the daemon is working properly: look inside the logs located under /Log/ - there should be at least 2: current-Beagle and current-IndexHelper. These are actually links to the latest log files.
  4. Optionally, start the graphic front end 'best' or search from the command line: beagle-query test

Don't forget to report any bugs you find with the MandrivaLinux packages to the Cooker Bugzilla - please remember that your help may speed up the introduction of a stable version of Beagle in your favorite distro!
